Replacing Upright piano pedals

By jimsalvatorepi8694, May 1 2018 03:04PM

Recently I needed to replace a damaged pedal on a Kawai upright. The mover that damaged the piano said that I just needed to remove a wing nut and swap the damaged pedal for a new one. Well the repair is more challenging than a simple wing nut. The piano needed to be placed on it back, which requires a piano tilter hand truck. The bottom panel is then removed from the piano, the pedals are removed from the pedal brackets and the replacement pedals installed. The piano is tipped multiple time during the repair. All the pedal need to be replaced since the replace pedals are not identical to original.
